 Stoney Creek pulls away in second, rolls over Buffalo, 10-3Valley Park Arena    Sat, Oct 27, 2012 Story by Narrative Science. The Stoney Creek Warriors scored six goals in the second period to pull away from the Buffalo Jr. Blades and clinch a 10-3 win. Stoney Creek got the win behind a great game by Cordell James, who had one goal and two assists. James scored 11:08 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Stoney Creek. Zach Niemanen provided the assist. Buffalo was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Warriors were able to score four times while on the power play. The Stoney Creek penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Warriors had been spending in the box. Stoney Creek kept the Jr. Blades' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 32 saves on 42 shots. The Warriors bested their season scoring average. This season, Stoney Creek averages 3.1 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Warriors were also effective in Buffalo's zone, and came away with three goals. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Eric Eustace, who also finished with three goals and two assists to lead the team in points, Aleksander Panov, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Niemanen, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Ryan Lewis, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Stoney Creek included Luke Zupan, who had one and Alexander Zaccaria, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Parsa Monsef, who had two, Neil Aird, Dave Eccles, Jordan Thomas, and Blake Luscombe, who contributed one a piece, and Lucas Triemstra and Harry Polyoka, who each chipped in three. Brendan Polasek rejected 17 shots on goal for Stoney Creek. The Warriors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Marco Mattina was ejected from the game.
