Cam Stewart gave the Niagara Falls Canucks a 3-2 (OT) victory over the Thorold Blackhawks when he scored 3:56 into the extra period.

Niagara Falls came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Canucks was down 2-0 after a goal by Thorold's Myles Falasca at 9:47 in the first period. Niagara Falls knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Darren Young at 6:39 in the third period.

The Canucks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Niagara Falls stifled the Blackhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canucks were held below their usual level of production. Niagara Falls puts an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. The Canucks' offense rang up 40 shots on Thorold's net.

Garrett Gallardi also scored for Niagara Falls. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Johnny Curran, Sean Farquharson, Michael Christou, Mitch McIntosh, Cole Langan, and Derek Dallman, who each chipped in one.

The Blackhawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Niagara Falls power plays. Thorold kept Niagara Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Johnson made 34 saves on 36 shots.

The Blackhawks were helped by Roger Sherwood, who finished with one goal. Sherwood scored 7:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. Owen Sobchak provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Vince Dunn, Tanner Pagendam, and Dan Chudobiak, who contributed one a piece.

Thorold's Vinny Merante stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Blackhawks incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Thorold ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brendan Cullen was ejected from the game.
