Wells' goals lift London to 5-2 victory over LaSalle

The London Nationals relied on the scoring touch of Ryan Wells, who netted two goals, to beat the LaSalle Vipers, 5-2.

Wells' tallies came on the power play at 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London and on the power play 18:39 into the first to make the score 2-2.

LaSalle's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the Vipers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

London excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

London additionally got points from Aaron Dartch, who also had one goal and one assist. Blake Thomas also scored for London. More assists for London came via Derek Todosichuk, who had three and Lance Pridham and Scott Lombardi, who contributed one a piece.

The LaSalle penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The Vipers had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game.

LaSalle was helped by Dylan Seguin, who registered one goal. Seguin scored 14:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. Eric Noel provided the assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Dylan Denomme as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Korey Morgan, Nathan Veres, and Spencer VanBuskirk, who each chipped in one.

Nick Dampier made 24 saves for the Nationals on 26 shots. London ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Nationals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Paxton Leroux was ejected from the game. Taylor Speed recorded 21 saves for the Vipers. For LaSalle, Zack Percy was ejected from the game.
