Sarnia pulls away in second, rolls over St. Thomas, 9-0Sarnia Arena Thu, Oct 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Thomas Stars allowed the Sarnia Legionnaires to net four goals during the second period and fell, 9-0. Sean Parker frustrated St. Thomas' offense all game, and stopped 38 shots en route to a shutout. Parker managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.04 prior to the game. Davis Boyer was a peerless playmaker for Sarnia, as he dished out four to beat the Stars,. The Legionnaires forced Stars' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 54 shots and forcing 45 saves. Tynan Lauziere made 22 stops and Luke Bierworth made 23. Sarnia put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Thomas to score on any of its seven power plays. The Legionnaires surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Sarnia has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Legionnaires could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 50 minutes in penalties during the game. Sarnia also got points from Nathan Mater, who also registered one goal and one assist, Zack Tuchklaper, who also had one goal and two assists, and Jeff Bauer, who also registered four goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Brent Sauve also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Tyler Prong and Thomas Moxley, who each chipped in one and Josh Kestner, Jason Teschke, and Steve Farlow, who contributed two a piece. The Stars could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Thomas averages 3.9 goals per game. The Stars forced Sarnia goalie Parker to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. St. Thomas' penalty kill unit could not stop the Legionnaires' power play, which converted on six of 10 opportunities. The Stars' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Thomas finished with 66 penalty minutes.
