Brady Campbell lifted the Elmira Sugar Kings to a 10-1 victory with a hat trick against the Guelph Hurricanes. Campbell got on the scoresheet 11:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:14 into the second and at 6:30 into the third.Elmira pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 35 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 5:48 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Sugar Kings forced Guelph goalie Quinton Henry to work between the pipes, taking 61 shots. Elmira outdid its season average for goals scored. The Sugar Kings have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Elmira also got points from Rob Kohli, who also registered one goal and one assist, Adam Dauda, who also finished with one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Matt Schieck, who also had one goal and one assist, Zac Coulter, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jake Weidner, who also registered two goals and two assists, and Clayton Greer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Elmira received assists from James Mildon, who had two and Adam Brubacher, Cass Frey, and Mitch Wright, who contributed one each. The Hurricanes' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Guelph surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Hurricanes were led by James Murray, who scored the team's only goal. Murray scored on the power play 15:53 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Guelph had gotten the advantage when Elmira's Craig Johnson was sent off for illegal equipment. Sebastian Stangherlin provided the assist. Hayden Neuman made 18 saves for the Sugar Kings on 19 shots. Elmira registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For the Sugar Kings, Patrick McKelvie was ejected from the game. Henry rejected 51 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Guelph registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Hurricanes, Steven Domenichini and Zach McFadden were ejected from the contest.
