Huge game by Divo boosts Kitchener over Guelph, 7-3Sleeman Centre Sat, Oct 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
John Divo was all over the ice for the Kitchener Dutchmen, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Kitchener's 7-3 win over the Guelph Hurricanes. Divo got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 11:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kitchener. The Dutchmen had gained a power play chance when Nico Giannantonio was whistled for tripping. Keli Grant assisted on the tally. Divo dished an assist on Brett Clampitt's goal that made the score 1-0 Kitchener at 5:52 into the first period. He added another helper on Jordan Delaurier's goal that made the score 3-0 Kitchener at 14:24 into the first period.Kitchener excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Dutchmen forced Guelph goalie Quinton Henry to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Kitchener bested its season scoring average. This season, the Dutchmen average 3.4 goals per contest. Kitchener's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Kitchener additionally got points from Andrew Boer, who also had one goal and one assist and Grant, who also registered two goals and one assist. Steven Jakiela also scored for Kitchener. The Hurricanes ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Team's Steven Domenichini and Ben Roelofson were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
