Caledonia's comeback falls short, Stratford wins 4-2

The Stratford Cullitons, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Stratford and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Cullitons led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Stratford's Garret James (APM)'s scored at 7:56 in the second period to put the Cullitons up 3-0.

Stratford's penalty kill excelled, as the Cullitons gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Stratford stifled the Caledonia Corvairs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Cullitons were helped by Jared Culliton, who registered one goal. Culliton scored 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Mitch Brooks picked up the assist. Stratford additionally got points from Trevor MacDonald, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stratford also got a goal from Ryan Watson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Jonathan Langford, Brett Heaman, Dylan Wettlaufer, Trevor Sauder, and Ryker Killins, who each chipped in one.

Caledonia's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Stratford power plays. The Corvairs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Caledonia puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. The Corvairs kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Caldwell made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Caledonia was helped by Matt Quilty, who grabbed one goal. Quilty scored 57 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Stratford. Connor Murphy assisted on the tally. Tyler Norrie also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Ryan Blunt, Jeff Swift, and Mitch Brown, who contributed one a piece.

The Cullitons ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Stratford, Jake Pleon was ejected from the game. The Corvairs' Justis Husak stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Caledonia ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Corvairs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dalton Riley was ejected from the game.
