Leardi lifts Leamington over LaSalle, 5-2

Behind a great game by Eric Leardi, who had two goals, the Leamington Flyers defeated the LaSalle Vipers, 5-2.

Leardi scored at 16:51 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 11:34 into the third to make the score 4-2 Leamington.

Leamington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow LaSalle to score on any of its five power plays. The Vipers were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Leamington additionally got points from David Dalby, who also registered one goal and one assist and Nathan Opblinger, who also had one goal and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from Jacob McGhee as well. More assists for Leamington came via Alex Seguin, who had two and Brett Babkirk, Joe Manchurek, Kyle Bowman, Brett Langlois, and Dakota Olvin, who contributed one a piece.

LaSalle's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Vipers finished with 26 penalty minutes.

LaSalle was helped by Dylan Seguin, who grabbed one goal. Seguin scored 2:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. Eric Noel assisted on the tally. Dylan Denomme also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Nathan Veres, Ben Hanus, and Graeme Brown, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers' Matt Mancina stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. Leamington incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Taylor Speed rejected 34 shots on goal for the Vipers.
