Caledonia hangs on, beats Guelph 4-2Sleeman Centre Sat, Oct 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitch Brown gave the Caledonia Corvairs the lead in the first period, and the Guelph Hurricanes was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2. Caledonia took over the lead for good with a goal by Brown at 15:27 in the first period. Jeff Swift provided the assist.Nate Mitton was all over the ice for the Corvairs, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mitton scored the first of his two goals at 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Brown assisted on the tally. Mitton's next tally made the score 4-2 Caledonia with 9:51 left in the third period. Caledonia had taken the advantage when Guelph's Nico Giannantonio got sent off for tripping. Brown provided the assist. The Corvairs forced the Hurricanes goalie Lee Doherty to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Caledonia also got points from Brown, who also registered two goals and two assists. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Justis Husak, who had one. Guelph was helped by Matt Lippa, who tallied one goal. Lippa scored on the power play 24 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. Sebastian Stangherlin picked up the assist. Guelph also got a goal from Matt Nightingale as well. More assists for Guelph came via Patrick Kudla, who had one and Mitch Klie, who had two. Justis Husak made 18 saves for Caledonia on 20 shots. The Corvairs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Doherty recorded 39 saves for the Hurricanes. Guelph incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
