Brampton wins tough contest against Stratford, 5-3Powerade Centre Sat, Oct 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brampton Bombers and the Stratford Cullitons were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Brampton made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jacob Hanlon's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Michael Darrigo was all over the ice for the Bombers, as he tallied two goals in the win. Darrigo found the back of the net on the power play 10:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stratford and again while 19:26 into the third to make the score 5-3 Brampton. Brampton made Cullitons' goaltenders to work all game long, taking 45 shots and forcing 40 saves. Joe Metzger made 27 stops and Nick Caldwell made 13. Brampton also got points from Hanlon, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Francois Cote, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Brampton also got a goal from Kurt Wolff as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Evan Capobianco, Kyle Allan, Josh Villaflor, Brad Sheppard, and Brady Clouthier, who each chipped in one. Stratford forced the Bombers goalie Erik Angeli to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Cullitons were led by Ryan Watson, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Watson scored 6:05 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stratford. Jake Ryan assisted on the tally. Jared Culliton also scored for Stratford. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Shane O Brien and Mike Pleon, who contributed one a piece. Erik Angeli made 36 saves for Brampton on 39 shots. The Bombers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stratford incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Cullitons ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryker Killins was ejected from the game.
