Stoney Creek falls to Fort Erie in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Fort Erie Meteors' Riley Devine scored 1:55 into overtime to beat the Stoney Creek Warriors, 3-2 (OT).

Fort Erie nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Meteors made the score 2-0 on a goal by Devine at 4:19 in the third period. Stoney Creek pulled to within 2-1 on a power play goal by Zach Niemanen at 11:40 in the third period.

Devine was all over the ice for Fort Erie, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:01 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The the Meteors penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and three majors for 27 minutes in penalty time. Fort Erie surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Warriors were unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Jesse Parker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Carson Johnstone, who had two and Jonathan England and Jesse Pereira, who each chipped in one.

Stoney Creek kept the Meteors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wyatt Pickrell made 33 saves on 35 shots.

Marco Mattina also scored for Stoney Creek. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Blake Luscombe, who had two and Jake Bain and Wesley St. Amand, who contributed one a piece.

Fort Erie registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Meteors, Cameron Fairgrieve, Anthony Passero, and Aaron Wanat were ejected from the contest. Alexander Brooks-Potts rejected 35 shots on goal for the Warriors. Stoney Creek totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and three majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Harry Polyoka, Dave Eccles, and Jake Milligan were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
