Leamington holds on for 3-2 win against LaSalleVollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Oct 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Leamington Flyers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Leamington made the score 3-1 on a goal by Mitch Graham at 12:56 in the second period, and LaSalle got as close as 3-2 when Eric Noel scored 6:56 into the third period. Alex Seguin was all over the ice for the Flyers, as he racked up two goals in the win. Seguin found the back of the net on the power play 4:19 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Leamington and again while on the power play 6:33 into the second to make the score 2-0 Leamington. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:34 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. The Vipers were unable to stop Leamington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flyers eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Leamington struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays. In addition, Leamington received assists from Kyle Bowman and Dakota Olvin, who each chipped in one and Brett Babkirk and Nick Beaune, who contributed two a piece. LaSalle racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Vipers had been spending in the box. LaSalle was held below its usual level of production. The Vipers average 4.2 goals per game. LaSalle also got a goal from Dylan Denomme as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Korey Morgan and Dylan Seguin, who each chipped in one. Matt Mancina recorded 24 saves for the Flyers. Leamington registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Flyers, Brett Langlois was ejected from the game. Taylor Speed made 32 saves for LaSalle on 35 shots. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Graeme Brown was ejected from the game.
