The Guelph Hurricanes tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Welland Jr. Canadians would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1. Welland took a 3-0 lead during the second period, only to have Guelph storm back on a Ben Rolefson goal 7:28 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Braden Curry was all over the ice for the Jr. Canadians, as he tallied two goals in the win. Welland forced the Hurricanes goalie Quinton Henry to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Mack Seebach also scored for Welland. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Chris Brown, who had two and Aaron Beally, Jason Lacroix, Spencer Giles, and Chris Langdon, who each chipped in one. More assists for Guelph came via Steven Domenichini and Ian Chan, who contributed one a piece. Matt Coulombe rejected 23 shots on goal for the Jr. Canadians. Welland incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Quinton Henry made 37 saves for Guelph on 40 shots. The Hurricanes incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Guelph ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Daniel Cotroneo was ejected from the game.
