Kitchener squeaks by Elmira, 3-2Kinsmen Arena Tue, Oct 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Kitchener Dutchmen and the Elmira Sugar Kings was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kitchener emerged with a 3-2 win. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Philip Moser at 14:05 of the third period. The Dutchmen were sparked by Moser, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kitchener excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Dutchmen forced Elmira goalie Mackenzie Blackwood to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Keli Grant also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Jesse Young, Tyler Hoffman, and Chris Eckert, who contributed one a piece. The Sugar Kings kept Kitchener's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jack Moylan made 33 saves on 35 shots. Elmira was helped by Clayton Greer, who grabbed one goal. Greer scored 6:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kitchener. Elmira also got a goal from Brady Campbell as well. More assists for Elmira came via Jake Weidner, who had one. The Dutchmen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Blackwood rejected 30 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
