Raymond, Brampton blank Elmira, 2-0

Bryan Raymond was superb between the pipes for the Brampton Bombers, as he did not allow a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Elmira Sugar Kings.

Brampton's penalty kill excelled, as the Bombers gave up zero goals despite allowing 10 power plays.

Brampton was paced by Michael Darrigo, who tallied one goal. Darrigo scored on the power play 9:49 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. The Bombers had taken the advantage when Elmira's Cass Frey got sent off for cross checking. Josh Villaflor provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:28 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Brampton was often in penalty trouble, totaling 13 minors and three majors for 81 minutes in penalty time. The Bombers had been averaging 43.0 minutes in penalties per game. Brampton stifled the Sugar Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Brampton also got a goal from Brady Clouthier as well. More assists for Brampton came via Calvin Gomes, who had one and Jacob Hanlon, who had two.

The Elmira penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and two majors for 74 minutes in penalty time. The Sugar Kings surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. Elmira did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Sugar Kings average 3.3 goals per game. Elmira forced the Bombers goalie Raymond to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Raymond recorded 37 saves for Brampton. The Bombers registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Team's New Player, Kyle Allan, and Nik Borschevsky were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Mackenzie Blackwood made 26 saves for the Sugar Kings on 28 shots. For Elmira, Brady Campbell and Clayton Greer were ejected from the contest.
