Kitchener outlasts Stratford, 6-4

The game between the Kitchener Dutchmen and the Stratford Cullitons was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Kitchener emerged with a 6-4 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Dylan Bursey at 14:48 of the third period.

Keli Grant had two goals and one assist to lead the Dutchmen. Grant scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 3:46 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Kitchener had gained a power play chance when Mitch Vandergunst was whistled for boarding. Matt Guild picked up the assist. Grant's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 8:00 left in the third period. Bursey provided the assist.

The Dutchmen kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Caldwell made 33 saves on 39 shots.

Kitchener additionally got points from Brett Clampitt, who also registered one goal and two assists and Bursey, who also had one goal and one assist. Kitchener also got a goal from Philip Moser as well. More assists for Kitchener came via Kaleb Witzell (APM), Jesse Young, Logan Schmidt (APM), Keegan Calder, Ryo Kobayashi, and Chris Eckert, who each chipped in one.

The Cullitons forced Kitchener goalie Jack Moylan to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Stratford was led by Shane O Brien, who tallied two goals and two assists. O Brien scored the first of his two goals at 11:19 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Trevor Sauder picked up the assist. O Brien's next tally made the score 4-3 Stratford with 9:39 left in the third period. Jeff McArdle provided the assist. Stratford also got points from Ryan Watson, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Jake Ryan also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jake Pleon, who had one.

Moylan recorded 28 saves for the Dutchmen. Kitchener incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cullitons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Stratford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jared Culliton was ejected from the game.
