Listowel wins tough contest against Kitchener, 5-3Kinsmen Arena Tue, Sep 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Listowel Cyclones and the Kitchener Dutchmen were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Listowel made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Chris Gillman's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Cyclones were led by Gillman, who registered one goal. Gillman scored 8:43 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Listowel. Shawn Moore provided the assist. Listowel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kitchener to score on any of its four power plays. Listowel additionally got points from Caleb Cameron, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Patrick Bell, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Listowel also got a goal from Mac Nichol as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Kyle Ellis, who had one. The Dutchmen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Kitchener's offense rang up 39 shots on the Cyclones' net. The Dutchmen were led by Steven Jakiela, who tallied one goal and one assist. Jakiela scored 10:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Keegan Calder picked up the assist. Brett Clampitt also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Jesse Young, Dylan Bursey, and Tyler Hoffman, who each chipped in one. Drew Reinhardt recorded 36 saves for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kitchener's Marc Williams stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Dutchmen incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
