Behind a great game by Braden Curry, who had two goals, the Welland Jr. Canadians defeated the Port Colborne Pirates, 3-1.

Curry found the back of the net 14:01 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Welland and again while on the power play 12:36 into the third to make the score 2-0 Welland.

Welland was led by goalie Matt Coulombe, who finished with 28 saves while allowing one goal. Coulombe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.45 entering the contest.

The Jr. Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Welland's offense rang up 40 shots on Port Colborne's net.

Welland also got points from Brooker Muir, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Matt Gillard, Chris Brown, and Daryl Thomson, who contributed one a piece.

The Pirates were led by Jordan Warren, who scored the team's only goal. Warren scored 12:53 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Welland. Charlie Izaguirre picked up the assist.

The Jr. Canadians incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Real Cormier made 37 saves for Port Colborne on 40 shots. The Pirates incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
