St. Marys beats Sarnia 5-3 after comeback scare

The Sarnia Legionnaires tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the St. Marys Lincolns held on for a 5-3 victory.

A goal by Mike Mandarelli put St. Marys up 5-1 in the third period, but Sarnia pulled to within two on Thomas Moxley's tally 13:30 into the third period.

Owen MacDonald had a great game for the Lincolns, netting two goals. MacDonald found the back of the net 7:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Marys and again while 12:08 into the second to make the score 4-1 St. Marys.

St. Marys also got a goal from Tyler Bryson as well. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Jonathan Rizzo, Kyle Flemington, and Bryan McCauley, who contributed one a piece and Tyson Baker, Sean Consitt, and Reid Oliver, who each chipped in two.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Sarnia additionally got points from Steve Farlow, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jason Teschke also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Hunter Tyczynski, Derek D`Andrea, Zack Tuchklaper, and Spencer Bronzi, who contributed one a piece.

St. Marys' Craig Wood stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Lincolns incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew Ganter recorded 21 saves for the Legionnaires. Sarnia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
