Thomas leads London over LaSalle, 7-4

Blake Thomas had two goals and one assist to lead the London Nationals to a 7-4 victory over the LaSalle Vipers.

Thomas scored on the power play at 16:21 into the first period to make the score 4-2 London and again while on the power play 1:15 into the second to make the score 5-2 London.

London forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 53 minutes in penalty time. The Nationals surpassed its season average of 35.0 penalty minutes per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

London additionally got points from Lance Pridham, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Matt Wildman, who also registered one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Ryan Wells as well. In addition, London received assists from Noah Schwartz, who had four, Matt Simsons and Jonathon Sims, who contributed one a piece, and Shawn Crowley and Aaron Dartch, who each chipped in two.

LaSalle racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and two majors for 50 minutes in penalty time. The Vipers had been averaging 31.0 minutes in penalties per game. LaSalle's offense rang up 31 shots on London's net.

The Vipers were led by Brendan McCann, who racked up two goals. McCann scored the first of his two goals at 4:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Spencer VanBuskirk provided the assist. McCann's next tally made the score 7-4 London with 13:44 left in the third period. A high sticking penalty on Ryan Tuffin had put LaSalle on the power play. Korey Morgan assisted on the tally. Dylan Denomme also scored for LaSalle. More assists for LaSalle came via Blake Jones, Ben Hanus, Scott Prier, and Eric Noel, who contributed one a piece.

Taylor Edwards made 27 saves for the Nationals on 31 shots. London registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Nationals, Wildman was ejected from the game. Taylor Speed made five saves before being replaced by Conner MacKinnon, who took the loss and made nine saves. The Vipers registered two goals on five power play opportunities. For LaSalle, Chad Shepley and Noel were ejected from the contest.
