Metro survives Cleveland comeback, wins 4-3

The Metro Jets survived a determined comeback attempt by the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Mike Gambino put Metro up 4-2 in the third period, but Cleveland pulled to within one on Dominic Valencia's tally 13:36 into the third period.

The Jets were led by Gambino, who had one goal and one assist. Gambino scored 12:46 into the third period to make the score Metro. Aaron Bessey picked up the assist.

The defensemen of Metro were also effective in the Jr. Lumberjacks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Metro additionally got points from TJ Krajewski, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brian Ziola also scored for Metro. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Doug Andrews, Matt Stirling, Kyle Shreve, and Thomas Evans, who each chipped in one.

Cleveland's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Lumberjacks put an average of 5.1 pucks into the net per game. Cleveland kept the Jets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Trevor Kalinowski made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Cleveland also got a goal from Scott Cuthrell as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Cameron Dimmitt, who had two and Jeff Monfils, Jake Roeper, and Nick Balavich, who contributed one a piece.

Metro incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nick Danczak rejected 12 shots on goal for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
