A four-goal first period deficit cost the Metro Jets, which could not recover and fell to the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, 9-2. Scott Cuthrell had a great game for Cleveland, netting five goals. Cuthrell's first goal came 3:45 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:03 into the first, at 18:09 into the first, at 14:49 into the second, and at 19:14 into the second. Metro's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the Jets let up five goals while on the penalty kill. The Jr. Lumberjacks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Cleveland's offense rang up 32 shots on Metro's net. The Jr. Lumberjacks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Cleveland averages 5.1 goals per contest. The Jr. Lumberjacks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Cleveland also got points from Andrew Sprouse, who also had one goal and two assists, Louis Sawchik, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Toms Taurins, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Ryan Wandzel as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Fred West, who had three, Andrew Mitch, who had four, Kyle Gonzalez, Nick Balavich, and Dallas Szustak, who contributed one a piece, and Cameron Dimmitt and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in two. The Jets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Cleveland took out Nick Danczak after he had made five saves and installed Joseph Moza in goal, where he finished with 10 saves and the win. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Trevor Kalinowski recorded 23 saves for Metro.
