Minnesota vanquishes Alexandria in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

The Minnesota Flying Aces and the Alexandria Blizzard both failed to score in overtime, but Minnesota won the game 4-3 (2-1 SO) after Mason Wyman's deciding goal in the shootout.

The shootout featured nine attempts between both teams. Alexandria got a shootout goal from Ian Eckland. In addition to the clincher, the Flying Aces got a shootout goal from Andre Pison.

Minnesota managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Flying Aces ended up below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Minnesota's offense rang up 41 shots on the Blizzard's net.

The Flying Aces were helped by Jared Sprink, who registered one goal. Sprink scored 4:24 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alex Yde assisted on the tally. Dylan Nelson also scored for Minnesota. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Alec Brandup, Tate Sykes, Pison, and John May, who each chipped in one.

Alexandria was led by Sergey Erileev, who racked up one goal and one assist. Erileev scored 14:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alexandria. Austin Rudnick provided the assist. Alexandria also got a goal from Eckland as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Danny Pelzer, Kyle Kuntz, and Ryen Zerfas, who contributed one a piece.

Jared Stearns made 26 saves for Minnesota on 29 shots. The Flying Aces registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Sam Goetsch rejected 37 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
