Granite City survives Minnesota comeback, wins 4-3

The Minnesota Flying Aces tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Granite City Lumberjacks held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Zac Sikich put Granite City up 4-2 in the third period, but Minnesota pulled to within one on John May's tally 9:17 into the third period.

The Lumberjacks were led by Sikich, who tallied one goal and one assist. Sikich scored 8:17 into the third period to make the score Granite City. Drew Otto provided the assist.

Granite City also got points from Hunter Schneider, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Roy Grandov, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Granite City also got a goal from Aidan Verbeke as well. In addition, Granite City received assists from Aaron Storch, who had one.

The Flying Aces were helped by Alex Yde, who had one goal. Yde scored 19:10 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Minnesota. Mason Wyman assisted on the tally. Minnesota additionally got points from May, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blair Seitz also scored for Minnesota. More assists for Minnesota came via Dylan Nelson, Garth Wagner, Patrick Kegley, and Vladimir Marchenko, who contributed one a piece.

Scott Murray made 15 saves for Granite City on 18 shots. The Lumberjacks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Minnesota's Jared Stearns stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Flying Aces incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
