North Iowa outlasts Minnesota, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the North Iowa Bulls escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Flying Aces.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Connor Langfield secured the win for North Iowa with a goal in the third period.

The Bulls were sparked by Langfield, who grabbed one goal. Langfield scored 16:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 North Iowa. James Hughes picked up the assist.

North Iowa was held below its usual level of production. The Bulls average 6.0 goals per game.

Jake Johnson also scored for North Iowa. In addition, North Iowa received assists from Eric Behrend and Bryan Broders, who contributed one a piece.

Minnesota was helped by John May, who registered one goal. May scored on the power play 15:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Minnesota. The Flying Aces earned a power play opportunity when Langfield was put in the box for interference. Dylan Nelson assisted on the tally. Minnesota also got a goal from Tate Sykes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Mason Wyman, Vladimir Marchenko, and Jared Sprink, who each chipped in one.

Matthew Bartels rejected 20 shots on goal for North Iowa. The Bulls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jared Stearns recorded 27 saves for Minnesota. The Flying Aces incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
