Alexandria rolls over Granite City, 6-2

The Granite City Lumberjacks had trouble finding ways to stop the Alexandria Blizzard, which beat Lumberjacks, 6-2.

Alexandria was led by Garrett Skinner, who registered one goal. Skinner scored 9:24 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alexandria.

The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Granite City power plays.

Alexandria additionally got points from Mick Dhein, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alexandria also got a goal from Kyle Kuntz as well. More assists for Alexandria came via Ian Eckland, Danny Pelzer, and Nate Mettenburg, who each chipped in one.

Granite City could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Lumberjacks put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Granite City's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Lumberjacks average 2.5 goals allowed per game.

Granite City was led by Hunter Schneider, who racked up one goal. Schneider scored 2:06 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Storch picked up the assist. Eric Miller also scored for Granite City. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Matt Peterson, Aidan Verbeke, and Drew Otto, who contributed one a piece.

Alexandria's Dom DeGuisseppi stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Blizzard incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Austin Wilson rejected 15 shots on goal for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
