Minnesota uses shootout to best Granite City, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Andre Pison scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Minnesota Flying Aces picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (2-1 SO) win over the Granite City Lumberjacks.

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Granite City's shootout goal was scored by Hunter Schneider. In addition to the clincher, Minnesota got a shootout goal from Mason Wyman.

The Flying Aces were helped by Patrick Kegley, who had one goal. Kegley scored on the power play 19:57 into the first period to make the score 2-2. A checking from behind penalty on Mitch Humphries had put Minnesota on the power play. John May provided the assist. Blair Seitz also scored for Minnesota. More assists for Minnesota came via Wyman, who had two and Jordan Forschen and Sean Zasey, who each chipped in one.

The Lumberjacks kept the Flying Aces' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt McLaughlin made 29 saves on 32 shots.

Granite City was helped by Schneider, who registered one goal. Schneider scored 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Aaron Storch assisted on the tally. Granite City also got a goal from Eric Miller as well. Other players who recorded assists for Granite City were Isaac Hoagland, Alex Koopmeiners, Mitchell Gwost, and Drew Otto, who contributed one a piece.

Minnesota totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Austin Wilson made 11 saves before being replaced by Scott Murray, who took the sol and made 13 saves. The Lumberjacks totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
