Cleveland blows out Three Rivers, 6-1

The Three Rivers Vengeance had trouble finding ways to stop the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, which beat Vengeance, 6-1.

Cleveland got the win thanks to a great game by Nick Balavich, who had one goal and three assists. Balavich scored on the power play 19:17 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks had gotten the advantage when Three Rivers' Michael Straub was sent off for interference. Andrew Mitch assisted on the tally.

Cleveland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Vengeance were unable to stop the Jr. Lumberjacks from sending pucks towards the net, and Cleveland eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Cleveland also got points from Scott Cuthrell, who also had one goal and one assist and Mitch, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Mike Palasics as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Pat Smith, who had two and Kyle Gonzalez, Bo Zinner, Cameron Dimmitt, Jared Johnson, and Dallas Szustak, who each chipped in one.

Three Rivers' offense operated below it season average. The Vengeance average 3.8 goals per game. Three Rivers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

The Vengeance were led by Nico Vecchio, who scored the team's only goal. Vecchio scored 14:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cleveland. Alex Berardinelli provided the assist.

Joseph Moza made 24 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 25 shots. Cleveland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tyler Stepke recorded 31 saves for Three Rivers.
