Metro stifles Flint's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Metro Jets came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Flint Jr. Generals, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Metro led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jets' Brad Hepler's scored at 7:55 in the second period to put Metro up 4-1.

Kyle Shreve had two goals to lead the Jets to victory. Shreve found the back of the net 11:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro and again while on the power play 2:08 into the second to make the score 3-1 Metro.

Metro additionally got points from Michael Lawrence, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Metro received assists from Brian Ziola, who had two, Doug Andrews, who had three, and Andrew Palushaj and Matt Stirling, who each chipped in one.

Flint's offense rang up 40 shots on Metro's net.

The Jr. Generals were helped by Nicholas Gnagni, who racked up one goal. Gnagni scored 12:01 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Metro. Jacob Howie picked up the assist. Edward Osowski also scored for Flint. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Robert Click, Zachery Hill, and Andrew Lay, who contributed one a piece.

The Jets' Riley Corbin stopped 38 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Metro totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek Britton was ejected from the game. Ted Barile rejected 26 shots on goal for Flint. The Jr. Generals totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Flint, Trevor Benaglio was ejected from the game.
