Flint wins tough contest against Metro, 3-2Iceland Arena Thu, Feb 07, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Flint Jr. Generals and the Metro Jets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Flint made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Zachery Hill's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Hill was all over the ice for the Jr. Generals, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Hill scored the first of his two goals at 10:46 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jacob Howie assisted on the tally. Hill's next tally made the score 3-2 Flint with 42 seconds left in the second period. Flint had gotten the advantage when Metro's Alex Holm was sent off for slashing. Andrew Lay provided the assist. The Jr. Generals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Metro power plays. The Jets were unable to stop Flint from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Generals eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Flint additionally got points from Howie, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Flint received assists from Adrain Larsson, who had one and Nicholas Gnagni, who had two. Metro struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. The Jets were helped by Kyle Shreve, who grabbed one goal. Shreve scored 1:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Michael Lawrence assisted on the tally. Matt Stirling also scored for Metro. Anders Franke recorded 16 saves for Flint. The Jr. Generals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Riley Corbin made 37 saves for Metro on 40 shots.
