The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks could not stop the Three Rivers Vengeance's Alex Berardinelli, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-3 win. Berardinelli got on the scoresheet 17:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:47 into the second and at 19:34 into the third.Cleveland's power play was ineffective against Three Rivers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Vengeance put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Lumberjacks to score on any of their eight power plays. Three Rivers additionally got points from Nico Vecchio, who also finished with one goal and three assists. Michael Straub also scored for Three Rivers. In addition, Three Rivers received assists from Justin Von Spreecken, who had one. Cleveland kept Three Rivers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Stepke made 33 saves on 36 shots. The Jr. Lumberjacks were helped by Dallas Szustak, who registered one goal. Szustak scored 7:17 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Louis Sawchik provided the assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Scott Cuthrell as well. More assists for Cleveland came via David Fassbender, who had one and Kyle Gonzalez, who had two. The Vengeance incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. David Heflin recorded 21 saves for Cleveland. The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
