Metro wins tough contest against Michigan, 4-2Fraser - Coca-Cola Fri, Feb 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Metro Jets escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brad Hepler secured the win for Metro with a goal in the second period. Matt Stirling had one goal and two assists to lead the Jets. Stirling scored 13:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Metro. Hepler picked up the assist. Metro forced Michigan goalie Spencer Craig to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Metro also got points from Andrew Palushaj, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Hepler, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Metro also got a goal from Doug Andrews as well. More assists for Metro came via Michael Lawrence, Josh Hosking, and TJ Krajewski, who each chipped in one. The Mountain Cats' offense rang up 31 shots on the Jets' net. Michigan was led by Guy Soulliere, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Soulliere scored on the power play 11:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. The Mountain Cats had taken the advantage when Metro's Travis Hargett got sent off for tripping. John Arms also scored for Michigan. Riley Corbin recorded 29 saves for the Jets. Metro incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michigan's Craig stopped 43 shots out of the 46 that he faced. The Mountain Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
