Granite City rips Breezy Point, 5-1

The Granite City Lumberjacks were firing on all cylinders against the Breezy Point North Stars, and when the final buzzer sounded Lumberjacks emerged with a 5-1 win.

Granite City was led by Roy Grandov, who had one goal. Grandov scored short handed 7:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Granite City. The Lumberjacks found themselves down a man on Zac Sikich's interference. Brett Love provided the assist.

Granite City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Lumberjacks kept Breezy Point's goalie busy throughout the game, and Erikur Arnason made 33 saves on 38 shots.

Granite City additionally got points from Aaron Azevedo, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Sikich, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Drew Otto also scored for Granite City. More assists for Granite City came via Aidan Verbeke, who had one and Aaron Storch, who had three.

The North Stars were led by Bryson Jasper, who scored the team's only goal. Jasper scored 18 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jonathon Plaszcz assisted on the tally.

Scott Murray rejected 18 shots on goal for Granite City. The Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Breezy Point incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
