Cleveland downs Metro in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Metro Jets on a clutch goal by Scott Cuthrell.

Cleveland overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jr. Lumberjacks trailed 3-1 after a power play goal by Metro's Doug Andrews at 15:13 in the second period. Cleveland tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Cuthrell at 19:59 in the third period.

Mike Palasics had two goals and two assists to lead the Jr. Lumberjacks. Palasics scored the first of his two goals at 12:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Metro. Kyle Gonzalez provided the assist. Palasics' next tally made the score 4-3 Cleveland with 14:31 left in the third period. Dallas Szustak assisted on the tally.

Cleveland's offense rang up 46 shots on the Jets' net. The Jr. Lumberjacks' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Cleveland gives up 2.5 goals per game.

Dominic Valencia also scored for Cleveland. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Ryan Wandzel, Andrew Sprouse, Louis Sawchik, and Nick Balavich, who each chipped in one.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Metro could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Jets were helped by Brad Hepler, who registered two goals. Hepler scored the first of his two goals at 5:39 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Metro. Michael Lawrence provided the assist. Hepler's next tally made the score 5-4 Metro with 3:15 left in the third period. Matt Stirling picked up the assist. Metro additionally got points from Andrews, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kyle Shreve, who also had one goal and one assist. Metro also got a goal from Josh Hosking as well. More assists for Metro came via Aaron Bessey and Zach Mac Kay, who contributed one a piece.

Joseph Moza recorded 23 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Austin Julvezan made 40 saves for Metro on 46 shots. The Jets registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
