Minnesota stifles Twin City's comeback, gains 6-4 victory

The Twin City Steel almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Minnesota Flying Aces managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end.

Minnesota led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Flying Aces' Zach Randell's scored at 7:29 in the second period to put Minnesota up 4-0.

Patrick Kegley had a great game for the Flying Aces, netting two goals. Kegley found the back of the net 11:55 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Minnesota and again while 19:06 into the third to make the score 6-4 Minnesota.

Minnesota put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Twin City to score on any of its five power plays. The Steel were unable to stop the Flying Aces from sending pucks towards the net, and Minnesota eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Flying Aces' goal total was higher than their season average. Minnesota averages 2.7 goals per game. The Flying Aces could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

Minnesota also got points from Mason Wyman, who also registered one goal and one assist and Alex Yde, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Minnesota also got a goal from Blake Williams as well. More assists for Minnesota came via Blair Seitz, who had two and Andre Pison, Joe Miller, Dylan Nelson, Mark Dryer, and Jared Sprink, who each chipped in one.

Twin City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Steel were helped by Brody Peterson, who had one goal. Peterson scored short handed 18:12 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Minnesota. Twin City found itself down a man on Kegan Storjohann's hooking. Calvin Miska provided the assist. Twin City additionally got points from Marvin Powell, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Ryan McAloon, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Chase Myers-Beck also scored for Twin City. In addition, Twin City received assists from Tony Buchal, Trey Hughes, and Tom Bartel, who contributed one a piece.

Allen Patten made 25 saves for Minnesota on 29 shots. The Flying Aces registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Parker Butler rejected 39 shots on goal for the Steel.
