Johnson's big game bests Battle Creek in 9-0 St. Louis win

Brycon Johnson had two goals and two assists to lead the St. Louis Jr. Blues to a 9-0 victory over the Battle Creek Revolution.

Johnson scored at 7:15 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Louis and again while 15:08 into the third to make the score 8-0 St. Louis.

St. Louis put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Battle Creek to score on any of its five power plays. The Revolution were unable to stop the Jr. Blues from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Louis eventually piled up 60 shots on goal. The Jr. Blues surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Louis has scored at the pace of 5.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Jr. Blues' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as St. Louis finished with 46 penalty minutes.

St. Louis additionally got points from Lukas Daniels, who also had one goal and two assists, Cody Guidorzi, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Mike Lozano, who also registered two goals and one assist. Kyle Meeh also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Trey Dodd, who had two and Joey Luongo, Sam Turner, and Jake Wynd, who contributed one a piece.

Battle Creek could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Revolution put an average of 2.2 pucks into the net per game. Battle Creek's offense was handcuffed by the Jr. Blues' defensive play, and the Revolution managed only 14 shots on goal during the game. Battle Creek found itself short handed often, totaling 34 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Mikael Broliden recorded 14 saves for St. Louis. The Revolution's Hughes stopped 51 shots out of the 60 that he faced.
