The Metro Jets tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Michigan Mountain Cats held on for a 3-1 victory. Michigan made the score 3-0 on a goal by Kade Morrison at 16:35 in the third period, and Metro got as close as 3-1 when Doug Andrews scored 19:26 into the third period. The Mountain Cats racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 19.0 minutes per game Michigan had been spending in the box. The Mountain Cats stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Michigan forced Metro goalie Riley Corbin to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. More assists for Michigan came via Austin Sartorius, who had two and John Arms, Ben Mack, Alex Kopek, and Bryan Davis, who contributed one a piece. The Jets were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Metro surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jets' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Michigan power plays. Metro could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Jets average 3.3 goals per game. Metro's offense rang up 45 shots on the Mountain Cats' net. In addition, Metro received assists from Matt Stirling, who had one. Spencer Craig made 44 saves for Michigan on 45 shots. For the Mountain Cats, Derek Ried was ejected from the game. Corbin recorded 33 saves for the Jets. Metro registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Travis Hargett was ejected from the game.
