Flint vanquishes Peoria in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

The Flint Jr. Generals and the Peoria Mustangs both failed to score in overtime, but Flint won the game 3-2 (1-0 SO) after Jacob Howie's deciding goal in the shootout.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.

The Jr. Generals came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Flint trailed 2-1 after a goal by Peoria's Brennan Anderson at 13:42 in the third period. The Jr. Generals knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Edward Osowski at 18:36 in the third period.

Flint pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Jr. Generals' offense rang up 41 shots on the Mustangs' net.

Flint was helped by Jacob Peacock, who racked up one goal. Peacock scored on the power play 3:47 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Jr. Generals had taken the advantage when Peoria's Brendan Murphy got sent off for checking from behind. Eric Jones picked up the assist. In addition, Flint received assists from Zachery Hill and Andrew Lay, who each chipped in one.

Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Cory Kettler and Luke Dmytro, who contributed one a piece.

Flint's Anders Franke stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Jr. Generals registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Michael Parda made 38 saves for the Mustangs on 40 shots. Peoria incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
