Quad City survives Battle Creek comeback, wins 5-3

The Quad City Jr. Flames survived a determined comeback attempt by the Battle Creek Revolution on the way to a 5-3 win.

A goal by Anthony Caroselli put Quad City up 5-2 in the third period, but Battle Creek pulled to within two on Tevor Clark's tally 19:59 into the third period.

The Jr. Flames were led by DJ Mussey, who registered one goal. Mussey scored 15:38 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Quad City. Jason Hoehn picked up the assist.

Quad City stifled the Revolution's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Flames kept Battle Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jackson Steltmann made 41 saves on 46 shots. Quad City surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Jr. Flames average 1.9 goal per contest.

Quad City also got points from Peter Coppola, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Hoehn, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Zach Turner also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Tanner Litvinoff, Luke Dickinson, Easton Halbert, Owen Ahlstrom, Harley Manus, and Robby Vukelich, who each chipped in one.

Quad City was unable to stop the Revolution from sending pucks towards the net, and Battle Creek eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Revolution found themselves short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays.

Battle Creek also got a goal from James Romberger as well. Other players who recorded assists for Battle Creek were Joshua Kimber, Brandon Gallo, and Derek Dodge, who contributed one a piece.

Vukelich rejected 28 shots on goal for the Jr. Flames. Quad City incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Battle Creek registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
