Cleveland rides Heflin to victory over Toledo, 3-1

David Heflin had a standout game with 28 saves, and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks beat the Toledo Cherokee 3-1.

Cleveland was paced by Scott Cuthrell, who racked up one goal. Cuthrell scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cleveland. Nick Balavich assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Lumberjacks stifled Toledo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cleveland's offense rang up 34 shots on the Cherokee's net.

Andrew Mitch also scored for Cleveland. More assists for Cleveland came via Pat Smith, who had one and Andrew Sprouse and Cameron Dimmitt, who contributed two a piece.

Toledo's offense operated below it season average. The Cherokee put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

Toledo was led by Brett Podgorski, who scored the team's only goal. Podgorski scored 17:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jordan Prewitt picked up the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cherokee's Nate Gay stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Toledo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
