Moza, Cleveland blank Toledo, 9-0

Joseph Moza was superb between the pipes for the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, as he did not allow a goal in a 9-0 victory over the Toledo Cherokee.

Cleveland was led by Louis Sawchik, who registered one goal and one assist. Sawchik scored 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cleveland. Dallas Szustak provided the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks forced Cherokee's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 32 shots and forcing 23 saves. Nathan Miller made 17 stops and Nate Gay made six. Cleveland stifled Toledo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Lumberjacks' defense was surprisingly good. Cleveland averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Jr. Lumberjacks bested their season scoring average. Cleveland averages 4.7 goals per game.

Cleveland additionally got points from Scott Cuthrell, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Andrew Mitch, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nick Balavich, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Cleveland included David Fassbender, who had two and Bo Zinner and Mike Palasics, who each put in one. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Jake Green, Ryan Wandzel, Andrew Sprouse, Dominic Valencia, and Kyle DeVault, who contributed one a piece and Cameron Dimmitt and Jared Johnson, who each chipped in two.

The Cherokee did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Toledo averages 3.4 goals per game.

Moza rejected 26 shots on goal for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Cherokee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
