Metro uses shootout to best Battle Creek, 5-4 (2-0 SO)

The Metro Jets and the Battle Creek Revolution both failed to score in overtime, but Metro won the game 5-4 (2-0 SO) after Matt Stirling's deciding goal in the shootout.

The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. The Jets' other shootout goal was scored by Stirling.

Metro overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Jets trailed 4-2 after a goal by Battle Creek's Joey Lioy at 9:19 in the third period. Metro tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Doug Andrews at 13:38 in the third period.

Kyle Shreve had a great game for the Jets, netting two goals. Shreve found the back of the net 1:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Metro and again while on the power play 11:04 into the third to make the score 4-3 Battle Creek.

Metro forced the Revolution goalie Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots.

Metro additionally got points from Andrews, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Andrew Palushaj, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Ryan Chapie, who had two and Brian Ziola, Aaron Bessey, Stirling, and TJ Krajewski, who each chipped in one.

The defensemen of Battle Creek were also effective in the Jets' zone, and came away with two goals.

Riley Corbin rejected 24 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Hughes recorded 46 saves for the Revolution. Battle Creek incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
