St. Louis blows out Peoria, 4-0

The St. Louis Jr. Blues were firing on all cylinders against the Peoria Mustangs, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr. Blues emerged with a 4-0 win.

St. Louis was sparked by Mike Lozano, who racked up one goal. Lozano scored 6:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Trey Dodd provided the assist.

The Jr. Blues put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Peoria to score on any of its four power plays. St. Louis forced the Mustangs goalie Michael Parda to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots.

St. Louis additionally got points from Dodd, who also registered one goal and one assist. Trace Jablin also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Kyle Meeh and Victor Gortz, who each chipped in one.

Peoria was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The Mustangs surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Peoria stifled the Jr. Blues' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mustangs did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Peoria puts an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game.

Clint Steinmeyer recorded 17 saves for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Parda rejected 42 shots on goal for the Mustangs. For Peoria, Joe Lampman was ejected from the game.
