Langfield's big game bests Twin City in 8-3 North Iowa win

Connor Langfield was all over the ice for the North Iowa Bulls, as he tallied one goal and two assists in North Iowa's 8-3 win over the Twin City Steel.

Langfield beat Garret Patrick with a shot 5:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 North Iowa. Kyle Krueger provided the assist. Langfield dished an assist on Timothy Santopoalo's goal that made the score 2-1 North Iowa at 2:08 into the second period. He added another helper on Eric Behrend's goal that made the score 4-1 North Iowa at 6:46 into the second period.

The Bulls forced Twin City's goalies to work between the pipes, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 28 saves. Patrick made 15 stops and Sawyer Marshall made 13. North Iowa stifled the Steel's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bulls outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, North Iowa averages 5.8 goals per contest.

North Iowa also got points from Behrend, who also registered one goal and two assists, Krueger, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Tony Paulson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Logan Murphy, who also had one goal and one assist, and Santopoalo, who also finished with one goal and one assist. North Iowa also got a goal from Jake Johnson as well. More assists for North Iowa came via Taylor Brown, who had two and Ron Lindgren, Matt Kroska, and James Hughes, who each chipped in one.

The Bulls were unable to stop Twin City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Steel eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Twin City was helped by Calvin Miska, who registered two goals. Miska scored the first of his two goals at 34 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Twin City. Kegan Storjohann assisted on the tally. Miska's next tally made the score 5-2 North Iowa with 1:00 left in the second period. Ryan McAloon picked up the assist. Nick Cerrato also scored for Twin City. In addition, Twin City received assists from Evan Anderson, who had one.

Matthew Bartels rejected 30 shots on goal for North Iowa. The Bulls totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Steel totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
