Huge game by Odom boosts Flint over Michigan, 6-2

James Odom had two goals and one assist to lead the Flint Jr. Generals to a 6-2 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats.

Odom's tallies came at 9:51 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Flint and short handed 7:09 into the second to make the score 3-2 Flint.

Flint's penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Generals gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Flint kept Michigan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Dvorak made 32 saves on 38 shots. The Jr. Generals found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Flint averages 3.7 goals per game.

Flint additionally got points from Austin Fletcher, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Flint also got a goal from Nicholas Gnagni as well. More assists for Flint came via Eric Jones, Timothy Conser, and Trevor Benaglio, who contributed one a piece and Conner McGovern and Edward Osowski, who each chipped in two.

The Mountain Cats were led by Marshall Helton, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Helton scored on the power play 15:53 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Michigan had gotten the advantage when the Jr. Generals' Jacob Howie was sent off for boarding. Bryan Davis picked up the assist. Guy Soulliere also scored for Michigan. In addition, Michigan received assists from James Gleason, who had two.

Flint's Anders Franke stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. The Jr. Generals incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Mountain Cats incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
