Koopmeiners' goals lift Granite City to 7-4 victory over Breezy Point

Alex Koopmeiners was all over the ice for the Granite City Lumberjacks, as he tallied two goals in Granite City's 7-4 win over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Koopmeiners found the back of the net 14:43 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Granite City and again while 49 seconds into the third to make the score 6-4 Granite City.

The Lumberjacks' offense rang up 47 shots on Breezy Point's net.

Granite City additionally got points from Blake Phenow, who also registered one goal and one assist, Alex Carson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Drew Otto, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Zac Sikich, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Granite City also got a goal from Mitchell Gwost as well. In addition, Granite City received assists from Aidan Verbeke and Aaron Azevedo, who contributed one a piece and Eric Miller, Matt Peterson, and Ryan Carriveau, who each chipped in two.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The North Stars were helped by Jonathon Plaszcz, who had one goal. Plaszcz scored on the power play 17:25 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Breezy Point. Breezy Point had gotten the advantage when Granite City's Peterson was sent off for elbowing. Anthony Martinez assisted on the tally. Jared Naeve also scored for Breezy Point. Other players who recorded assists for Breezy Point were Tyler Reichl, Evan Anderson, and Bryson Jasper, who contributed one a piece.

Scott Murray recorded 21 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The North Stars' Erikur Arnason stopped 40 shots out of the 47 that he faced. Breezy Point incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
