Twin City boosted by Butler's play in net, beats Alexandria 2-1Runestone Community Center Fri, Feb 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Twin City Steel relied on the sparkling performance of Parker Butler in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Alexandria Blizzard. Twin City was led by Tom Bartel, who racked up one goal. Bartel scored on the power play 12:24 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Twin City. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Levi Erickson had put the Steel on the power play. Shane Hill provided the assist. Twin City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alexandria to score on any of its four power plays. The Steel could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Twin City also got a goal from Zach Randell as well. More assists for Twin City came via AJ Merritt, Ryan McAloon, and Kegan Storjohann, who each chipped in one. The Blizzard's offense operated below they season average. Alexandria averages 4.0 goals per game. The Blizzard kept Twin City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Butler made 38 saves on 39 shots. Alexandria was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes. The Blizzard were led by Chayce Coenen, who scored the team's only goal. Coenen scored 4:58 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Garrett Skinner assisted on the tally. The Steel registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Alexandria's Dom DeGuisseppi stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced.
