Peoria hangs on, beats Quad City 3-1Owens Rec Ctr Sat, Jan 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Peoria Mustangs beat the Quad City Jr. Flames, 3-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Lyndon Fields provided Peoria with the game-winning tally when he scored 5:48 into the the first period. Austin Wisely picked up the assist.The Mustangs' Michael Parda was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Parda will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.82. Peoria was led by Brennan Anderson, who finished with one goal. Anderson scored 15:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Peoria. Cory Kettler assisted on the tally. The Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Peoria's offense rang up 31 shots on Quad City's net. Kevin Piskie also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Blake Ortman, Chance Homerin, Max Finley, and Cody Lichtenvoort, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Flames managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Quad City wound up below its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. Flames were led by Tanner Litvinoff, who scored the team's only goal. Litvinoff scored 16:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Peoria. Harley Manus picked up the assist. The Mustangs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Robby Vukelich rejected 28 shots on goal for Quad City.
