The Michigan Mountain Cats had trouble finding ways to stop the Toledo Cherokee, which beat Mountain Cats, 5-1. Jordan Fogarty had one goal and two assists to lead Toledo. Fogarty scored 11:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Tyler Zalecki picked up the assist. The Cherokee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Zachary Armstrong also scored for Toledo. More assists for Toledo came via Brett Podgorski, Kyler Omey, Brandin Thelen, Ben Torchia, and Brandon Layman, who each chipped in one. The Mountain Cats kept the Cherokee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nate Gay made 31 saves on 32 shots. Michigan was led by Kade Morrison, who scored the team's only goal. Morrison scored 7:35 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Toledo. Austin Sartorius assisted on the tally. Toledo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Spencer Craig rejected 29 shots on goal for the Mountain Cats. Michigan incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
