Peter Coppola registered one point to lead the Quad City Jr. Flames to a 2-0 victory over the Peoria Mustangs. Quad City kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Reichle made 37 saves on 39 shots. Quad City also got a goal from Harley Manus as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were DJ Mussey, Tanner Litvinoff, Luke Dickinson, and Easton Halbert, who each chipped in one. The Mustangs forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 52 minutes in penalty time. Peoria had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Mustangs stifled the Jr. Flames' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Peoria could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mustangs average 2.9 goals per game. Quad City's Robby Vukelich stopped 22 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Jr. Flames totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Peoria registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. The Mustangs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe Lampman was ejected from the game.
